Direct answer

Select a UCO delivery basis using the actual transport mode and handover point. State the Incoterms edition and exact named place or port. The ICC checklist recommends considering FCA for container or multimodal movements; FOB and CIF require careful alignment with vessel delivery.

Start with the physical handover

Describe whether the seller delivers to an inland location, terminal or directly aboard the vessel. For a containerised flexitank, the operational handover may precede vessel loading. The ICC checklist helps frame the choice of rule, but the contract must reflect the actual movement.

Ask the logistics provider to map origin handling, main carriage and destination handling. Then have qualified advisers validate the chosen rule and any added clauses.

Name the place precisely

A country name is not a usable delivery point. Include the terminal, port or other named place and the intended Incoterms edition. Resolve access, loading and documentation arrangements with the party responsible.

Do not infer ownership transfer, payment timing, quality acceptance or the dispute procedure from an Incoterm alone. These matters require separate contract provisions and human validation.

Compare commercial offers on a common basis

Ask which transport, handling and insurance costs are included. Add only the missing costs needed to reach the comparison point. Confirm cover and claims arrangements separately rather than assuming that a price label solves every cargo risk.

Buyer questions

Should all UCO containers be sold FOB?

No universal rule fits every movement. Review the actual handover and use the ICC guidance and professional contract advice.

Does an Incoterm fix the payment terms?

No. Payment, quality acceptance, title and dispute handling need separate agreed terms.

Sources and evidence

Primary references support the stated technical definitions. Procurement checklists are editorial guidance, not evidence of a specific lot, shipment or certification.

Confirm laboratory methods, commercial terms and applicable requirements with the buyer and qualified advisers before contracting. No guide establishes stock availability or company certification.
