Direct answer

A UCO request for quotation should fix the quantity basis, intended use, quality acceptance plan, named loading and destination places, delivery conditions and required evidence. Suppliers can then respond to the same requirement. Keep unknown fields explicit instead of replacing missing information with assumed market defaults.

Define the requirement that each supplier must answer

State the buyer's legal identity and contact, quantity per shipment, frequency, delivery window and receiving place. Separate a trial shipment from an ongoing requirement. Specify whether the quantity is based on shipped or accepted material.

Identify the fuel-production or other intended application. Ask the receiving operator which feedstock limits and documents it needs. The same UCO description does not establish acceptance by every processing facility or sustainability scheme.

Specify how acceptance will be demonstrated

List parameters with units, reporting basis, methods and acceptance limits. Distinguish an FFA percentage from an acid value, and explain the components of any combined MIV limit. Ask for additional contaminant tests where the receiving process requires them.

Agree the sample point, representative sampling method, custody, retained samples and how a disagreement will be handled. Request a COA linked to the offered lot. Do not describe a laboratory result as proof of collection origin or certificate eligibility.

Compare responses against one cost and document basis

Request a dated commercial price offer with currency, named delivery place, proposed Incoterm and included expenses. Ask separately for handling, inspection, freight, insurance and destination costs where they are not included. Compare accepted-tonne costs using the calculator.

Use the printable procurement worksheet below to organise the RFQ. Its empty fields are a planning aid, not a contract. Send the completed requirement through the contact route for a commercial assessment.

  • Quantity and delivery window stated
  • Receiving place and intended use recorded
  • Quality limits, units and methods specified
  • Sample and acceptance process agreed
  • Delivery costs and required documents listed

Buyer questions

Should an RFQ include a target UCO price?

A target may be included if clearly labelled as the buyer's assumption. It does not replace a dated supplier offer or prove a current market price.

Is an incomplete RFQ unusable?

It can start a discussion. Mark missing fields explicitly so the trading desk can resolve them before commercial comparison.

Sources and evidence

Primary references support the stated technical definitions. Procurement checklists are editorial guidance, not evidence of a specific lot, shipment or certification.

Confirm laboratory methods, commercial terms and applicable requirements with the buyer and qualified advisers before contracting. No guide establishes stock availability or company certification.
